Jordan buys 100,000 T wheat in tender, optional origin- trade – RTRS
HAMBURG, May 28 (Reuters) – Jordan’s state grain buyer has purchased 100,000 tonnes of optional-origin wheat in an international tender for the same volume which closed on Wednesday, European traders said.
Price for all the wheat was $296 a tonne c&f. Some 50,000 tonnes was bought from Ameropa and 50,000 tonnes from Sarles.
Of the total, 50,000 tonnes was for shipment in the first half of October and 50,000 tonnes in the first half of November.
Traders said they expected more import interest to be generated as global benchmark wheat prices in Chicago on Wednesday fell to their lowest level since Mar. 4 on optimism about rapid progress with the U.S. crop and favourable U.S. crop weather.
